...when a reporter asked Paul McCartney what the best band in the world was (expecting him to say The Beatles), he said 'Echo and the Bunnymen'. EATB are an excellent band.
I'm afraid I don't really know any music by The La's, hum a tune and I'll see if I know it. |

There she goes | ||

Heres the lyrics to the most popular La's song, I betcha you heard it before Tess.
There she goes There she goes again Racing thru' my brain And I just can't contain This feelin' that remains There she blows There she blows again Pulsing thru' my vein And I just can't contain This feelin' that remains There she goes, there she goes again She calls my name, pulls my train No-one else could heal my pain And I just can't contain This feelin' that remains There she goes There she goes again Chasing down my lane And I just can't contain This feelin' that remains The La's split up a few years ago and an offshoot of the band was another Liverpool band called "CAST" There are a few MP3 downloads available on the web if you have the inkling to go ave a look.. Yeah, EATB are a great band, my favorite tune(s) from Ian McCulloch are...."Villiers terrace" and of course "The Cutter" Catchya soon Tess |

Yeah, I know that one... I like it. It always reminds me of a holiday I had in Cornwall with 10 mates when I was younger. It's great when a song reminds you of a good time in the past. 'The Cutter' always transports me back to the 80's when I used to spend all day playing games on our Spectrum computer.

I go from one extreme to the other.... | ||
|
....but what I have to have from the music I listen to is the involvement of more musical instruments than computer generated, synthesized noises made my a machine. Talent and hard earned skill is something I appreciate more than punching a few buttons and hitting 'repeat' on a key board.
Some of my favorite songs are Metallica's 'Hero of the Day', their cover for 'Astronomy' Hootie and the Blowfish's 'Let her Cry' and Marcy Playground's 'Sherie Frasier.' |

aah yeah, u prolly wouldn't have come to think of it. about half of them are kind of underground aussie bands only played on triple j. but white stripes, american hi-fi and maybe machine gun fellatio (i'm not sure about that one) are american. i have a feeling mgf is aussie too but i'm not sure. admittedly little birdy is VERY aquired taste - it took me a little while to get into them but once i did i couldn't get enough of them.
also, another band i have come to love is the fiery furnaces, especialy the song don't dance her down. i fully love them. they were the feature album on triple j last week and i just listend to the radio day in day out trying to hear as much of them as i possibly could. my all time fav song at the moment however, is 'mutiny' by big heavy stuff. they also are another australian band u prolly havn't heard of but i recommend them so much to everyone, take a stab in the dark and download one of their songs - it truly is beautiful music. you can't often find them on kazaa and stuff, prolly the song you will find is 'hibernate' but that's a great song as well. |
