Metallica is one of my favorite bands of all time. I dunno, they just realy do it for me; there's something intricate about their songs that's so well put together. I like the older stuff, like Ozzy and then the older older stuff, like Jimmy Hendrix. Aerosmith is good. Korn isn't exactly new, I really like their low, growling sound. I only have a couple of CDs, so I could tell you a song I like on the radio but couldn't tell you the band!

Old Metallica, yeah. I'm kind of sad about new Metallica simply because it doesn't sound like, well, the old. I would have to get St. Anger and listen to the music to determine what I really think about it. I'm the kind of person who is more prone to listen to the music as opposed to the lyrics in a song. I was a violin player for seven years and in learning that and listening to a full orchestra, I also learned how to pick apart a song and listen to just the drum line or just the bass or just the lead guitar and really hear how they fit together as a whole....
.... Which is why rap drives me absolutely crazy...it's a bunch of blips, beeps and tweaked noises played over and over again! That isn't music and I can't see how anyone could deny it. If you think about it, rap can be defined as a form of torture...that's what repetition is as said by the Chinese. Rap is done to get a message out. Rock and Metal move you to feel through both the music and the words. Lyrics, I can take or leave. See, if Metallica or Aerosmith did a CD of their tunes and made it straight acoustical, I'd buy it in a second. AC/DC and the Smashing Pumpkins as well....speaking of the 'Pumpkins, what do you think of Billy Corgan's new band, Zwan?

Pinky and the Brain was...well there wasn't much more to it, but I liked it better!
I don't like rap either
I don't listen to country
There are a precious few songs involving so much techno that I actually like.
I don't listen to blue grass or R&B or yodeling.
But I do like Zwan.

...there's nothing wrong with listening to actual music, so embrace it! I became a Metallica head in the fifth grade because my brother listened to it. He listens to other music now, but he sucks, so there.
I was heavily into music from the sixth through high school also...only graduated las year and I had allot of fun being a marching, green violin. It's true, I did marching band all through high school and believe me, marching and playing the violin and doing all of the creative moves at the same time does wonders for one's coordination! I had to paint it green for my school colors; needless to say, I wasn't allowed to play THAT one in orchestra. At my high school nearly everyone was a musician, artist, actor or writer of some kind, so competition was always high. Good stuff.
You know what I wish? That Metallica would do a CD of their best songs without lyrics, just musical. Like substituting the words with a musical thread. Metal is Metal, lyrics or not, but only a band with such great musical content could get away with something like that. Metallica has allot of good Classical tendencies because each instrument contributes so much; the bass and drums are more than just chugging forces, they have their own intricate jobs. YAY!
