There is absolutely no way I can cure my acne even though it is mild. I have hormonal acne meaning there's something f*cked up in my body. This sucks as I do anything sexual, I break out. What can I do to cure this hormonal imbalance?

Great Linkin Park quote...I feel the same way. I have been battling acne and other skin conditions since I was 15. Im 23 now. It is also hormonal related. Sometimes its good, and sometimes its terrible. I have tried everything, but ended up using nothing. Now all I can do is wash with plain water because my skin is so f***ked up and senstive from all the topicals I have used in the past. I guess you gotta think positive and take the good days with the bad, but its hard to because the bad days are the worst, and it feels like nobody else understands you.
This is one of the only places I can turn to when it gets bad. At least I have that... |

I agree about hormones ruining your skin. Has anyone tried any contraceptive pill which works well for them? i have previously tried diane which worked ok but nothing spectacular. also is there a pill that doesnt make you put on weight?

In my opinion, harmonal acne is the worst. Sometimes, I wonder why I just can't have regular acne. My sex life is slowly but surely going downhill. I don't even want to have sex or masturbate anymore due to this problem.

If your acne is hormonal have you tried eating say 3 or 4 meals containing certain types of fish such as Salmon each week?
How about large amounts of EFA without a diet change or a sensible amount with diet change? How about taking Zinc? Acne when it is hormone related is usually because the liver can't process the excess hormones because it is too busy trying to process all the toxins from junk & processed foods, dairy etc. If your acne is truly hormone related then you would benefit from doing some form of detox. There are a number of ways this can be done. The most effective is a diet change eliminating all or most toxins from the diet. The second is to take special detox supplement formulas. The formulas are not as effective but it depends how good you want the results to be and how much you like junk food etc. |

Re: . | ||

Everyone is different when it comes to Zinc. I personally recommend you take 30mg of elemental Zinc (actual Zinc).
The best forms of Zinc in my opinion are Zinc Picolinate and L-Optizinc. Not all forms of Zinc are the same, some will be the same weight but only contain a small amount of actual Zinc and/or are not easily absorbed. The effectiveness between the different types is substantial. By taking Zinc you should notice a reduction in the oil production on your skin within a few weeks and the bonus is it is cheap to try. You can buy Zinc from anywhere that sells Vitamins/Minerals which usually includes supermarkets etc. There is a big discussion going on about detox formula at the moment on this forum: Click here Hope this helps, Regards, Michael |

Listen to Snipe... I'm trying to eat somewhat healthy, fruits and veggies... I take EFA's a little more than recommended, and I also take a multivitamin every day + Zinc 30mg. I'm practically clear... I really feel I could be 100% clear if I excercised and ate a bit more healthy! But I'm lazy

Re: Yup | ||

Certain forms of exercises are surprising not good for acne.
Testosterone levels increase in men during most forms of exercise. Weight lifting has been shown to increase a mans testosterone level by as much as forty percent! This in turn is one of the causes of acne. Oddly enough, with extreme exercise, such as endurance training, testosterone can DROP, by as much as fifteen to forty percent. So my advice is to avoid weights and stick to other forms of exercise such as running/cycling etc. |

Thnx, that's super advice for me! I do cycle a lot... or as much as I can when I'm not feeling lazy :-P
But I want to be strong too, my upperbody needs some more *oompf*, what should I do then?? |

Re: well | ||

If you are going to do weights I would suggest that you leave a few days between working out and take it slowly. Just see how far you can push it before it effects your skin.
You maybe one of the lucky ones which the increase of testosterone etc will not effect you much but you will have to wait and see. Working out in the morning is better for your muscles but worse for your skin. The evening is the opposite. Sorry my advice isn't any better, there is not much more you can do. |

Re: well | ||

Snipe,
why is working out better in the evening for your skin, as oppose to working out in the mornings?? IS this true for females as well? In addition, I'm totally confused about the whole sex and acne thing. I thouht sex was suppose to help clear acne because one is engaging in some form of exercise and is working up a sweat. ANd when you sweat, you rid some of the toxins in your body. Plus, sex relieves stress. Please explain. |

Snipe, your the best. Someone should be paying you for all of the time you take to help people out on here. As far as the EFAs goes I started eating salmon 3 times a week about 3 weeks ago and the results were amazing. I was pretty much totally clear that whole time. I recently had a bad breakout and am back to my old self again. I think it might have been from all the Easter candy I ate, but who knows. Im still on the salmon and hopefully things clear up for me.

What does EFA stand for? And does the fish have to be salmon or will any regular fish do? Just curious.

Snipe really is the best (or one of the best :-)
But getting paid?? Nah, I'd say we all do our best to help in this forum and we get paid by the gratitude and thnx instead! :-D |

EFA stands for Essential Fatty Acids. Salmon is good because it contains alot of it. You can also take it in pill form. Just think of it as good oil that your body needs.
Your right A Friend. I dont know what I would do without this site... |

Re: thanks | ||

Ok I will try answer all the above questions in sections.
Quote: This is due to the testosterone levels been at a peak in the morning and slowly less and less throughout the day. I assume it will be the same in a woman but I can't be sure without researching it. Quote: You're right about the sweat removing toxins. This is a very divided view but there are a lot of people (me included) who believe that when you have sex and ejaculate your body looses a lot of Zinc. This in turn causes an in-balance as your body tries to replace the Zinc and in some acne sufferers this aggravates their acne. You can eliminate or reduce the effects by supplementing with Zinc. Quote: Try taking Zinc and see if it improves your condition. Quote: Thanks for you compliment. I would have thought the candy would be to blame. It's great that your skin improves so much just by eating Salmon. It helps most people but not normally as much as that. Quote: Thanks for the compliment. |

I help out as well, but I almost never get any compliments... and I don't give as many as I should. So I don't blame anyone else for not doing it. I think there's a silent understanding, if u will, on the board.
But I do enjoy all the effort you put in here, so thanx Layzie420 :-) Big hug |
